Day 1: Shimla to Janglik
Your journey begins with a scenic 160 km drive from Shimla to Janglik, taking approximately 9-10 hours. Depart from Shimla Old Bus Stand at 6:00 AM and pass through the charming towns of Rohru, Chirgaon, and Tangdu. Admire the Pabbar River along the way. The final stretch may require a short hike to Janglik if the weather doesn’t permit vehicle access. Dinner is provided upon arrival at the guesthouse or campsite.
Day 2: Janglik to Dayara Thatch
Trek through lush pine, oak, and deodar forests as you ascend 600 meters over 7-8 km in about 5-6 hours. The trail takes you past traditional shepherd’s huts and opens into the expansive Dayara meadows, offering stunning views of snow-capped peaks. Camp under the stars and enjoy a hot dinner after an evening acclimatization walk.
Day 3: Dayara Thatch to Litham
Continue your journey with a gradual ascent and descent across 5-6 km, gaining 200 meters in altitude. Walk through scenic forests, meadows, and bubbling streams, with panoramic views of the Dhauladhar Range. Arrive at Litham for a hot lunch and spend the night in comfortable twin-sharing tents.
Day 4: Acclimatization and Chandranahan Lake Visit
Dedicate the day to acclimatization with a trek to Chandranahan Lake, located 4 km from Litham. This steep ascent and descent take approximately 6-7 hours. Explore three of the seven glacial lakes in the Chandranahan group, surrounded by pristine natural beauty. Return to Litham for lunch and rest in your campsite.
Day 5: Litham to Dhunda
Hike through a mix of gentle and steep trails over 4-5 km, ascending 400 meters to Dhunda. Enjoy your first clear views of Buran Ghati Pass and the majestic Dhauladhar Range. The well-marked trail, frequented by shepherds, leads to a campsite offering breathtaking vistas. A hot lunch and a cozy night under the stars await.
Day 6: Dhunda to Munirang via Buran Ghati Pass
This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. Covering 8 km in 10-11 hours, you’ll ascend to the summit of Buran Ghati Pass at 4,550 meters before descending to Munirang. Navigate steep and icy slopes using ropes, slide down snow walls, and trek through enchanting juniper forests to reach the riverside campsite. Meals are provided en route and at the camp.
Day 7: Munirang to Barua Village and Return to Shimla
The final stretch is a gentle descent over 5-6 km to Barua Village, taking about 2-3 hours. The trail winds through mixed forests and picturesque landscapes. After lunch in Barua Village (not included), begin the drive back to Shimla, arriving late in the evening.
