Day 1: Arrival in Leh
Upon your arrival in Leh, you’ll acclimatize to the high altitude with an elevation of 3,500 meters (11,500 feet). Leh serves as the starting point for the Markha Valley Trek, which takes you through breathtaking landscapes and ancient monasteries. For those seeking a more challenging adventure, consider the Twin Peaks Expedition featuring Kang Yatse II or Dzo Jongo Peak.
Day 2: Acclimatization in Leh
On this day, you’ll spend time acclimatizing in Leh while exploring local monasteries like Shey, Thiksey, Sangam, and Hemis. For a more relaxed exploration, a downhill cycling tour around Leh provides a scenic way to enjoy the surroundings without straining the body.
Day 3: Drive Leh to Skiu then trek to Sara
Begin your trek with a scenic drive from Leh to Skiu, followed by a trek to Sara. Skiu is situated at an altitude of 3,400 meters (11,150 feet), and the trek to Sara covers approximately 11 kilometers (5-6 hours) with an altitude of 3,600 meters (11,800 feet).
Day 4: Sara to Markha
Continuing your journey, you’ll trek from Sara to Markha. The trail, with an altitude of 3,700 meters (12,200 feet), takes around 10 kilometers and 5-6 hours of trekking.
Day 5: Markha To Hankar
The trek from Markha to Hankar is a challenging yet rewarding experience with an altitude of 4,100 meters (13,400 feet). The distance covered is 13 kilometers, taking around 7-8 hours.
Day 6: Hankar To Nimaling
Today, you’ll trek from Hankar to Nimaling, which offers stunning views at an altitude of 4,800 meters (15,800 feet). The trek covers 12 kilometers, with a duration of 7-8 hours.
Day 7: Nimaling To Chokdo via Kongmaru La And Drive To Leh
On the final day, you’ll cross the Kongmaru La Pass at an altitude of 5,200 meters (17,300 feet), followed by a trek to Chokdo at 3,900 meters (12,900 feet). The trek covers approximately 13 kilometers and takes 7-8 hours. After completing the trek, a 60 km drive to Leh will conclude your adventure in 3 hours.
