The Tarsar Marsar Trek in Kashmir, India, is a 7-day adventure that takes you through breathtaking landscapes, serene alpine lakes, and lush meadows. Starting and ending at Aru, this circular trek spans 48 kilometers and reaches a maximum altitude of 13,500 feet. Suitable for trekkers with moderate experience, the best time to embark on this journey is during the monsoon and autumn months of July, August, and September. The trek includes twin-sharing tent accommodations, vegetarian meals, and egg options.The nearest railhead is Jammu, and the closest airport is Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport in Srinagar. Services begin and end at Aru, with a meeting point at the Tourist Reception Center in Raj Bagh, Srinagar. It’s recommended to arrive in Srinagar a day early to ensure timely reporting at 12:00 pm. The trek cost includes 5% GST.

July | August | September 

 

Day 1: Srinagar to Aru Base Camp

  • Distance/Time: 112 km, ~4 hours
  • Highlights: Scenic drive along the Lidder River, arrival in Aru
  • Depart Srinagar at 1:00 pm and drive to Aru. Prepare essentials as there are no shops in Aru, and mobile networks are available only up to Pahalgam. Stay at a guesthouse or lodge. Ensure original ID and photocopies are ready.

Day 2: Aru to Lidderwat

  • Trekking Distance/Time: 10 km, 6-7 hours
  • Altitude: 2,800 m
  • Highlights: Trek along the Lidder River, serene forested trails, and picturesque meadows
  • The trail involves a gradual ascent through lush landscapes with water streams to refill. Enjoy a packed lunch and camp at Lidderwat surrounded by tranquil Gujjar settlements.

Day 3: Lidderwat to Shekwas

  • Trekking Distance/Time: 6 km, 5 hours
  • Altitude: 3,350 m
  • Highlights: Hospitality at Gujjar huts, expansive meadows at Shekwas
  • Trek through moderate terrain and clear streams, passing the charming village of Homwas. Set up camp in the open meadows of Shekwas, offering panoramic views.

Day 4: Shekwas to Tarsar Lake and Exploration

  • Trekking Distance/Time: 4 km, 3-4 hours
  • Altitude: 3,800 m
  • Highlights: Tarsar Lake, surrounded by snow-capped peaks
  • A relatively short trek with moderate ascents leads to Tarsar Lake. Camp by its pristine azure waters and spend the day exploring the serene surroundings.

Day 5: Tarsar to Sundarsar

  • Trekking Distance/Time: 6 km, 5 hours
  • Altitude: 4,000 m
  • Highlights: Tarsar Pass, Sundarsar Valley
  • Cross the Tarsar Pass, navigating moderate to difficult terrain. Descend into Sundarsar Valley, known for its lush meadows and clear streams, and camp amidst nature’s beauty.

Day 6: Sundarsar to Marsar Lake and Homwas

  • Trekking Distance/Time: 11 km, 7 hours
  • Altitude: 4,100 m
  • Highlights: Marsar Ridge, vast meadows, pastoral landscapes
  • Ascend to Marsar Ridge for stunning views, then descend to Homwas via Sundarsar. Enjoy the scenic meadows and reflect on the journey as the trek nears its conclusion.

Day 7: Homwas to Aru and Drive to Srinagar

  • Trekking Distance/Time: 13 km, ~5 hours
  • Altitude: 2,400 m
  • Highlights: Return through Lidderwat and Shekwas, lush valleys
  • Descend through easy terrain, crossing streams and retracing earlier paths. Reach Aru by mid-afternoon and drive 4 hours back to Srinagar, bringing this unforgettable journey to a close.
  • Accommodation: Comfortable stays in camping tents (twin sharing) or guesthouses/hotels during the trek, as applicable.
  • Meals: All meals during the trek, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, with vegetarian options and eggs (if applicable).

Cancellations Made 25 Days or More Before the Trek

Refund Options:

  • 95% of the trek fee is refundable (5% deduction applies).
  • Alternatively, a 100% cash voucher (valid for one year) can be issued for any trek.
  • You can also transfer your booking to a friend for any trek and any date.

Cancellations Made Between 24 to 15 Days Before the Trek

Refund Options:

  • 70% of the trek fee is refundable (30% deduction applies).
  • A 100% cash voucher is available for the same trek (valid for one year).
  • An 85% cash voucher is available for any trek (valid for one year).
  • Transfers to a friend are allowed for the same trek on any date.

Cancellations Made Between 14 to 10 Days Before the Trek

Refund Options:

  • 50% of the trek fee is refundable.
  • An 80% cash voucher is available for the same trek (valid for one year).
  • A 70% cash voucher is available for any trek (valid for one year).
  • You may shift to another batch for the same trek within the same season (subject to availability).
  • Transfers to a friend are allowed for the same trek on any date.

Cancellations Made Less Than 9 Days Before the Trek

Refund Options:

  • No cash refund is available.
  • A 20% cash voucher is available for the same trek (valid for one year).
  • A 10% cash voucher is available for any trek (valid for one year).
  • You may transfer your booking to a friend for the same trek and date.

Special Circumstances: Cancellation by Trek On Climbs

In rare situations where Trek On Climbs cancels a trek due to unavoidable circumstances such as extreme weather conditions or natural disasters:

  • A 100% voucher will be issued for the amount paid, redeemable for any trek within one year.
  • This does not apply if a participant is required to descend due to health issues or rule violations.

Change of Trek or Batch

In cases where a trek shift becomes necessary due to unforeseen weather or logistical challenges:

  • Participants will be provided with an alternative trek.
  • Cost differences will be adjusted through vouchers valid for one year.
  • Batch changes are subject to seat availability.

Additional Terms

  • Refunds are not applicable for bookings made with promotional offers, vouchers, or discount codes.
